→Now the dark begins to rise, save your breath it's far from over←
☼Nation Name: Gaul
☼Human Name: Lyonesse the Reckless
☼Gender: Female
☼Age: 40 years old (But ages really freaking well, looking like she's in her late twenties. NOTE: If any of her kids become older than I estimated them, this will be adjusted accordingly.)
☼Magic choices:
- Lyonesse has Animal-Magic, something her grandmother taught her and all of her siblings, and is matched up with a lion, named Llewelyn. When she uses it, her eyes grow more catlike, her hair becomes shaggier and looks like a mane, she grows claws and her teeth grow sharper, as well as gains a lion's strength and speed.
- Her axe is magical, though not very, always returning to her hand if she wants it to, and burning someone else's hand when they attempt to use it without her permission (if they just hold it, it's fine, but it can tell when someone is trying to use it...). That's all it does, really, but Lyonesse has kept it with her since she was given it by her Gran-Gran.
- She is well-versed in spells, having learned most of them from her Gran-Gran, but also invented her own, as well as collected a couple from other people. She likes to use the above two in battle, and her spells for more casual use, but will use them in it, occasionally.

☼Description:
☼Special Features: She has thin scars, scattered around her body from her many battles, mostly healed by magic, but not completely. She has a significant one, a large 'X' right below her neck, where there was an attempted assassination. On her lower back, very small, she has a tattoo of a Celtic Motherhood Knot. (link)

☼Personality: Lyonesse is very… coarse, to put it simply. She acts far more like a boy than a girl, and, in fact, you would be quite hard-pressed to find any sort of feminine quality within her personality. She doesn’t care about looks, unless it’s trying to look intimidating, nor make-up, clothes, boys, truly, nothing of the sort. The Ancient would prefer to spend her time hanging out in the mud, rather than the mall, to be wrestling with boys, rather than discussing them. She’s a violent sort of person, believing that almost anything can be fixed with the application of a fist or axe, rather than diplomacy.
She is a child, truly, acting like far less than her age most days, hell, all days. Lyo also has absolutely no respect for others, unless they are family, and can find entertainment in almost anything. She thinks it’s really funny, the way she always gets mistaken for a boy, and loves to laugh, the louder the better. Pretty crass, she can spew out swear words like nobody’s business, though she usually doesn’t mean them in a condescending or insulting way, most of the time, they’re just a natural part of her vocabulary.
When she gets angry, which rarely happens, as she usually thinks everything is funny, Lyonesse is… kind of scary. She doesn’t change, per se, but the things that make her a rough and tumble, fun sort of woman are kind of thrown into perspective, as she is completely willing to use violence, perhaps even kill you. Lyo’s kind of a psychopath, perfectly willing to destroy things, and kill you, just because you ticked her off slightly. She’s a little too battle ready, in this case, in fact, in all, seeing if you manage to sneak up on her and clap a hand on her shoulder, she’ll probably spin you around and knock you to the ground, almost killing you before she realizes what happened.
All in all, though, Lyoness is a man-child, ironic considering she’s a woman, a very violent, and psychopathic man-child, but one of those, nonetheless. Just don’t get on her bad side, okay?
☼Strengths:
- Fearless - She would have you believe that she fears nothing, and it would show. Anything you throw at her, she'll laugh at it and keep going, disregarding things that would make many people quake in fear. And, even if Lyonesse is afraid, she will hide it, convincingly enough so that it doesn't affect her performance in battle.
- Fighting - As a whole, Lyo kicks butt in fighting. Whether she's roughhousing with her kids, or heading into battle, she dominates it, living and breathing the fight. It is something that calls to her, and that's why she doesn't like those who try to call for peace. Battle is in her blood.
- Knowledgeable - Despite the fact that she seems a complete idiot, Lyonesse is quite well-informed, especially about magic and anything ancient, particularly stuff related to the Celts. She just usually doesn't choose to apply it, but when she does, she's even more formidable than usual.
- Experience - Being an Ancient, and all, she has quite a bit of experience, whether it be in leading or in the battle field, and that gives her an edge that even those who have lots of raw talent do not have. She knows which plans sound great in theory, but fail out on the battlefield, knows how to keep calm, and knows how to transfer things from paper to real life, without mixing anything up.
☼Weaknesses:
- Reckless - Despite the fact that she knows pain, and knows how it feels to be on the brink of death, Lyonesse is quite reckless, far too eager to go into battle, even when a few more minutes would gain her more recruits, or in a few more minutes, the other side would surrender. She isn't reckless with the lives of those that follow her, but she is highly callous with her own.
- Diplomacy - While, unless you hit one of her berserk buttons, Lyo will not get easily mad at someone, she can be quite irritating to other people. Unfortunately, she doesn't really realize this, most of the time, which is even more irksome for people.
- A bit of a Psychopath - She's not a mean person, per se, she just really doesn't understand the value of life, and all that jazz. Lyonesse, if you insult something she holds dear, will quickly proceed to threaten to smash your face in, chop of your nose, something along those lines, and she will do it, seemingly at the drop of a hat. As well as the fact that she will actually follow through on those threats, when she's bored, she destroys stuff. Not kidding.
- Stubborn - Screw you, if you tell her something other than what she knows is right. She may be completely wrong, but as long as it hasn't hindered her (like she used an awful battle plan, but she still won, so she won't accept it's bad), Lyonesse will ignore all advice to the contrary.
☼Fears:
- Someone hurting her children - Lyonesse is highly protective of her kids, whether they're her blood children or not, and fears them getting hurt. Not like, in battle, because she thinks that's the best thing ever, but emotionally. She hates the times it's already happens, and, if she knows about the emotional hurt, tries to be there for them.
- Becoming Obsolete - While Ancients are prized for their knowledge, and their experience, Lyonesse worries that someday, when her children become Ancients (though hopefully that will not happen for a while), she will be rendered useless, all of the representatives going to the younger Ancients, rather than her. She wants to be wanted.
- Getting Older - At the moment, she is very thankful that her aging hasn't really seemed to proceed much since she hit twenty-seven, twenty-eight-ish, and hopes it stays that way, for quite a while. Her grandmother had lived long, but that was not what she was worried about: Lyonesse doesn't want her body to slow down, to get so old that even fighting is a too difficult task for her. If that happens, she might just commit suicide.
→Light the fuse and burn it up, take the path that leads to nowhere.←
☼Family and Siblings: Grandmother (deceased, Celt), little sister (Britannia), little sibling (Brother or sister, Iberia), Six kids (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein)
☼History: Lyonesse can't remember her mother, but she remembers the woman who raised her, her Gran-Gran. She taught her everything, especially about the Celtics, and the girl soaked up the knowledge, wanting desperately to be like all of those in the myths, but especially like the grandmother she so admired. Being raised on myths, and all sorts of tales from the olden times, Lyo grew into magic early, hailed as a prodigy, and practiced her fighting, wanting to be like those of old. Her axe became her favorite weapon, and she worked on her magic diligently, wanting to become like those who were hailed as Ancients, like her grandmother, though that would mean she would have to be a representative of her country, first.
At the age of fourteen, her dream was recognized, as she became the representative of Gaul, leading her country wonderfully. Two years later, at the age of sixteen, she became pregnant, which, though it terrified her at first, brought her great happiness, with her young baby boy whom she named Francis. Adoring him very much, she later had two more, a young boy and a young girl (Switzy and Liech). She, though she was quite young to be a mother, did a pretty good job, at least she thought so. As well as her three biological children, though she did have a bastard claiming that he was the one who impregnated her both times for the last two, which she didn’t know how to take, that he remembered it, Lyonesse took in three other children, two boys and a girl, all siblings (Belgium, Netherlands, and Holland), though they were not blood-related in the slightest.
Unfortunately, two sad moments in her violent leadership of her country, though it was a pretty good leadership, mind you, marred her life at once. First of all, her Gran-Gran died, the last of the older Ancients, something very devastating for the mother. Secondly, a few months later, it was decided that she would become an Ancient, and that her country would be divided up. Though it would finally mean she could realize her dream of becoming an Ancient, Lyonesse didn’t want to see that dream happen by the division of her country, hoping that there would be many other representatives coming behind. Though she was quite happy when her children were chosen to be representatives, not really knowing that they were sort of ‘born in’ to the role, she still missed her leadership.
Today, as an Ancient, Lyonesse roams the countries, giving people much gender confusion, as she looks and acts like a guy, as well as giving people age confusion, as she doesn’t look like a forty year old woman, but, considering that her grandmother lived well beyond her 100s, it could be a genetic thing. She assists with her children’s nations, whenever they want it, but is perfectly content to not lead anymore, even if it is a bit missed, and gets most of her enjoyment from seeing the look on the other representatives’ faces when they realize who’s parent she is, and which role she takes. Though she is content being alone, Lyonesse kind of wants someone romantically, as it’d be pretty sweet to have someone who wasn’t just a one night stand. But, she is happy, with the simplest things, and that is all that particularly matters to her.
☼Rp Sample: Lyonesse barely refrained from cackling as she surveyed her work. So, she’d been sent on a diplomatic journey. Alright, kind of sucked, but at least she got to go places. But, the people were all assholes, wherever she went. That had not particularly been fun. So, in one of the later towns, when they threw rocks at her, screw it, she slaughtered them. Not all of them, of course, just the ones that had been throwing stones, or in the group of people throwing stones. She wasn’t completely heartless, and as much as she would’ve loved to slaughter the rest of the village, there were children here, and she wasn’t going to leave them as orphans.
Sniggering slightly, she looked over, amused, as the second-in-command, some douchebag who’s name she never bothered to learn, came up, looking like his brain had broken over the fact that a diplomatic envoy had done such a thing, and was trying to piece itself back together. “Sir, what are we going to go?” he asked, and before he could continue, Lyo interrupted him, wanting more brain breakage.
“You do realize I’m a woman, right, kid?” Ah, here’s the brain breakage. With a flabbergasted, probably almost comatose man standing beside her, and some bodies strewn across the field, Lyonesse couldn’t handle it anymore and burst into laughter, almost doubling over. This was priceless.
→I will not bow, I will not break, I will shut the world away.←
☼Pairings that you like: Honestly, I ship anything~. For with Gaul? If someone who's NOT an Ancient seriously wants to date her, I will like, love them, so I'm okay with any of those. For with the fellow Ancients? Probably Scandinavia/Kievan Rus', Byzantine, or maybe Rome (in order of preference~).

Gaul actually spanned bits of Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein as well, but that's beside the point. The reason I chose the lion for her animal-magic was because of her Grandmother, Celt, often compared her to a 'little lion', hence the name, as well. Also, there were lions in France, at least back then, spreading across Iberian Peninsula, southern France, Italy, and Balkans to Northern Greece. The Roman Arenas, and the killing of the Christians? They used the European lion for that, at first, until it went extinct. So, today there's no lions in France, but there used to be around Gaul's time.
